Photos from the 2004 Grindleford Gallop, an annual event which raises money for Grindleford Primary School. It's a 21 mile circular route which starts at Grindleford and passes through Eyam, Housley, Longstone Moor, Great Longstone, Hassop, Edensor, Baslow, Curbar, Froggatt and back to Grindleford. I entered as a walker to practice for Keswick to Barrow in May. I made good progress for the first 12 miles or so and was looking at around 7 hours total time. However I started to develop blisters which slowed me down and by the time I had gone past the Baslow checkpoint onto the rocky ascent to Curbar I was limping along. Total time in the end was 8 hrs 23 mins for 22 miles, the extra mile being caused by lack of attention when moving off from the Baslow checkpoint. The GPS I was carrying recorded the entire journey and I used GARtrip to create the data charts in images 36-41, while G7ToWin was used to pull the screenshots from the GPS (a standard Garmin eTrex) in images 34-35. The photos were taken with the tiny matchbox sized l'espion Xtra digital camera.
